Moon Jellies: August Single Release
If there was one place you could go right now, where would it be? Use your imagination…
This summer's been crazy in so many ways. Where is the one place you secretly want to go? You deserve to relax, let go, and take a trip! When you go to the beach, few things are more relaxing than the ebb and flow of the tides.
MOON JELLIES is about beings that must go with the flow. Their lives are governed by Earth's gravity, and the Moon's pull…their life is the life of tides.
The latest single by Planetudes, Moon Jellies is psychedelic chamber pop meets the recording-studio-as-instrument aesthetic of the 60s and 70s. Surf guitar, vintage Minimoog and Farfisa convey the natural psychedelia of moon jellyfish and the pulsating, bioluminescent fireworks of the undersea world. Relax. Dream. Float away and return recharged.
The stage was set for this track, oh, 4.5 billion years ago, when the proto-planet EARTH collided with THEA (sometimes known as Orpheus) and knocked a chunk of the Earth off. This collision between proto-planets set in motion the double mystery we live every day: Earth, the planet of water, tides, animals, colors, and sound; and the Moon, which steers our tides and our nighttime imagination.
Without this cosmic event, one planet being broken into Earth and Moon, we would have never had oceans, life, the biosphere, etc. Gazing up at the Moon, one wonders: do these two, ever miss being one?
